Newton woman accused of white collar crimes, no motive found

A strange white collar crime case is making headlines in North Carolina. A woman in nearby Newton has been accused of issuing driver's licenses to residents who were not qualified to have them. She is facing several white collar crime charges as a result.

Earlier this month, an armed robbery reportedly took place in the middle of the day in a busy shopping center. The owner of a Charlotte-area jewelry store told police that he was caught off guard when two men entered his store, held a gun to his face and demanded that he give them cash. He also claims that he was beaten during the alleged robbery, which has caused concern in the area about an increase in both property crime and crimes involving violence.

17-year-old in Gaston County publicly admits to drunk driving

A teenager recently admitted to driving while impaired after her vehicle crashed into a North Carolina home. The 17-year-old says she skipped her classes at Gaston College and spent time drinking with her friends at a residence close to the school. She and a 19-year-old friend were on their way back to school when the car veered off Puetts Chapel Road, apparently going about 75 miles per hour.

North Carolina man accused of growing marijuana

A man accused of growing marijuana outside his North Carolina home is now facing drug charges. At the time of a local news report, the 42-year-old from Rhodhiss had not yet been arrested, but Caldwell County authorities indicated that he is likely to be accused of several offenses pending a grand jury indictment. Police claim they were tipped off about illegal activity going on at the man's home.
