Woman facing criminal charges after North Carolina chase

A woman involved in a high-speed chase is facing criminal charges after allegedly refusing to pull over. The woman is accused of telling North Carolina officers she would only pull over for cash. When she was finally stopped, she was arrested and is now facing a variety of criminal charges.

The chase began when they tried to pull the 37-year-old woman over for a traffic stop. The woman refused to stop for officers. She contacted emergency services during the chase and allegedly told the dispatcher she was not involved in an emergency, but would only stop if she was paid $300,000.

Deputies continued pursuing the woman until she was forced to stop at a dead-end. It is claimed she may have reached speeds of 70 mph in an area where 45 mph was the maximum speed. She is now facing charges in the incident and additional charges of driving while impaired. Deputies have stated the woman is also involved in an additional DWI case in another county.

The reason behind this woman's alleged refusal to stop is unknown, but now she is facing criminal charges in North Carolina. Although not all of the charges were described, the driving while impaired charge could send her to jail if a conviction is ultimately obtained in court. It would be in her best interests to gain an understanding of her legal rights so she can fully understand what she is up against. Like anyone else accused of a crime in our state, she is deemed innocent unless and until proven guilty, but she may gain by preparing a vigorous and relevant defense in response to the charges she is facing.
