North Carolina man arrested for driving while impaired

A North Carolina man was recently arrested in Charlotte for suspected drunk driving after he crashed into four patrol cars. It was discovered that he was supposedly driving while impaired with a child in the car at the time of crash. He is officially charged with driving under the influence, child abuse and reckless driving.

The man is accused of slamming into four North Carolina Highway Patrol cruisers that were parked. It was around the time of a sporting event, so the cars were sitting still as the police managed traffic flow. Two officers suffered minor leg injuries as they moved out of the way.

According to reports, the driver apparently failed to slow down at the top of an exit ramp, crossing traffic and striking the patrol cars. The officers at the scene claim that the man smelled strongly of alcohol. A field sobriety test was administered and the man was arrested for supposed drunk driving. State troopers say that the entire incident was captured on the dashboard in-car video system that is installed in many law enforcement vehicles.

Driving while impaired is an unfortunate mistake. However, the accused still has the right under the law to build a criminal defense for himself. This would include gathering and presenting evidence on behalf of his defense and calling any applicable witnesses. No matter the supposed evidence that is brought against the man, he is still considered innocent in the eyes of the law until he is proven to be otherwise.
