North Carolina man faces drug charges -- MDPV and marijuana

A man has recently been arrested shortly after 1 a.m. in Raleigh. North Carolina police suspect that the man was in possession of illegal drugs, and the arresting officers believe that the man intended to sell the substances. The man now faces various drug charges resulting from the incident.

According to the police report, police arrested the man for being in possession of multiple drugs including 73 grams of marijuana and 77 grams of 3,4-Methylenedioxypyrovalerone known as MDPV. MDPV is also commonly referred to by its street name "bath salts," and it is an illegal and highly addictive stimulant. Both drugs were allegedly found in five small baggies.

Upon further investigation, police discovered that the man was on probation at the time of his arrest, and he has previously been convicted of drug crimes. The man has been arrested, and he remains in custody on a $150,000 bond. He has been charged with trafficking an illegal stimulant, possession of a Schedule 1 drug and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The North Carolina man faces very serious drug charges, and a conviction could bring a significant amount of jail time. However, it is crucial to remember that, even though the man has prior drug convictions, every person accused of drug crimes is innocent until, and only if, proved guilty in court by an exacting measure of proof. As the man prepares his criminal defense against the charges, he would benefit from preemptively attaining information pertaining to his case in an effort to consistently make choices that he feels are in his best interests as the proceedings move forward.
