Criminal Defense: Shootings involving police officers?

Weapons Offenses Criminal Defense

There has been a justifiably huge outpouring of concern about the recent shooting of a fleeing, unarmed man in the back by a North Charleston police officer, and his subsequent planting of a Taser next to the victim.  It is going to be a hard job for his lawyers to defend that case, especially in light of the video which has been released everywhere.  One can only hope that, unlike Ferguson, emotions remain checked while the justice system takes its course.

However, there may be little similarity between the North Charleston case and the upcoming trial in Charlotte of a CMPD officer.  First, no video evidence has been released as the judge does not want a jury pool to be tainted.  Secondly, the evidence tends to show that the Charlotte subject was charging at the officer, who were responding to a 911 call by a homeowner who said their door was getting kicked in.

Words of wisdom: Wait for the evidence, and make a decision when the evidence comes in.
