Collision involving motorcycle leads to drunk driving charges

Being accused of driving while intoxicated can be a stressful and challenging process. The penalties for a conviction for drunk driving are serious, and become more severe with the presence of a collision involving serious injuries. A 35-year-old man is facing numerous charges following a recent collision in North Carolina in which two individuals reportedly suffered injuries.

The incident is said to have taken place on a recent Sunday, when the man allegedly crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a motorcycle head-on. Both riders were rushed to the hospital soon thereafter, before being airlifted to another facility for further treatment of injuries. Upon investigating the matter, police advised that speed was not a contributing factor, but the man was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Following the collision, authorities claim that a breath test was administered, which indicated the man's blood alcohol content was .11, which is above the legal limit to drive. He is facing numerous charges in relation to the incident, including drunk driving and felony charges of causing serious injury. If convicted, he would face severe consequences that could have a substantial impact on his future.

Those accused of drunk driving may wish to protect themselves from potentially devastating consequences, but they may be uncertain where to turn for guidance. When facing similar charges, one could speak with an experienced attorney for advice on the best course of action to take moving forward. An attorney in North Carolina can evaluate the charges against a client, provide information on the potential consequences he or she may face and assist in forming a strong defense for use during court proceedings.
