2 facing felony drug charges following recent investigation

There are a multitude of scenarios in which an individual could be accused of a crime. Should law enforcement agents suspect the presence of drug activity, an investigation may ensue, and the search of a residence could lead to criminal charges. Two men have been arrested and are facing numerous drug charges following a recent investigation in North Carolina.

According to authorities, the investigation began when they received information about the potential presence of drug activity at two separate locations in the area. After placing both under surveillance, they claim that the individuals who reside within were involved in a traffic stop for a speeding violation. During the stop, an officer asserts that the driver was exhibiting suspicious behavior, and that he gave consent to search the vehicle.

A K-9 unit was called out to the scene, which allegedly uncovered the presence of nearly 5 grams of cocaine within the vehicle. They also claim that a subsequent search of one of the residences in question unearthed as much as 3 kilograms of methamphetamine and several ounces of cocaine. Both were taken into custody shortly thereafter, and each is facing felony drug trafficking charges in relation, the penalties of which are severe if a conviction is obtained.

Facing drug charges can be a stressful and intimidating process. Those accused of similar crimes may find it beneficial to seek counsel from an attorney in the early stages of the process. An attorney in North Carolina can evaluate the charges and evidence against a client, provide advice on the potential consequences he or she may face, and assist in forming a strong defense for use during subsequent legal proceedings.
