1 arrested for drunk driving while attempting to apply for job

When being accused of a crime, every individual has rights that must be upheld throughout the process. Unfortunately, many may be unaware of their rights, and furthermore uncertain how to respond to the situation. A 40-year-old man has been arrested and accused of drunk driving after he allegedly drove to a fire station in North Carolina to submit an application while under the influence of alcohol.

According to authorities, the man was attempting to submit an application for employment at a local fire station when he inadvertently interrupted a State Highway Patrol meeting. They claim that he immediately began to show his gratitude for their service, but while doing so, they allegedly detected signs of intoxication. An officer then proceeded to administer a field sobriety test, which he allegedly failed to perform in a satisfactory manner.

Police also assert that a breath test was conducted, which indicated his blood alcohol content to be more than double the legal limit to drive. He was taken into custody soon thereafter and is now facing charges for driving while under the influence of alcohol. The penalties for a similar crime are significant, and a conviction could have a significant impact on a person's future in a variety of ways.

With little to no experience in the area, individuals who are accused of drunk driving may find it advisable to seek guidance as soon as the charges are filed. Those who face similar charges could speak with a defense attorney for guidance on the best course of action with which to proceed. An attorney in North Carolina can work toward protecting a client's legal rights and provide assistance with any further legal proceedings associated with the charges.
