Mecklenburg DUI defense attorney can protect rights of accused

Accidents happen on a daily basis. In fact, it is difficult to drive from one location to another without encountering an accident along a North Carolina roadway. The majority of these accidents are minor and cause little problem. However, some of these accidents have serious repercussions for those involved. When these repercussions involve DUI or traffic-related charges, it is probably time to contact a Mecklenburg DUI defense attorney.

In one recent incident, a 20-year-old driver of a pickup truck allegedly collided head-on with a car driven by a 58-year-old man. The car suffered a significant amount of damage in the accident, and the driver did not survive. The pickup truck driver left the scene of the accident; however, witnesses apparently convinced him to return to the scene.

This young man has now been charged with impaired driving, hit-and-run, second degree murder and a variety of other related offenses. The defendant declined to perform a Breathalyzer test at the scene; however, blood tests were performed and law enforcement officers are awaiting the results. These results will have an impact upon the charges that he faces.

In a situation such as this one, the accused will have to answer to the charges before a North Carolina court. Prior to doing so, he will want a Mecklenburg DUI defense attorney to review the evidence in the case to make sure that his or her rights are protected. Additionally it is critical that his or her side of the story is properly presented to the court.
