North Carolina man charged with larceny in Florence break-ins

Hurricanes and other natural disasters can leave people across the country facing serious decisions that could ultimately impact their survival. Unfortunately, police believe that two men stole from businesses in the aftermath Hurricane Florence that recently impacted North Carolina and surrounding areas. They face multiple criminal charges as a result of the allegations, including larceny.

Both men are accused of being involved with burglarizing a gas station and Ashley Electric. According to police, the men reportedly confessed to their involvement. One of the men is accused of being involved in three other break-ins.

Those break-ins allegedly happened at Murf's Pawn Shop, a Family Dollar and Suggs and Co. Reports claim that the 33-year-old man took 42 guns from one of the locations, including handguns, rifles and shotguns. Another gun was reportedly taken from one of the other locations. He is currently being held on $1.5 million bond.

While both men face criminal charges, the second man is charged with breaking-and-entering, larceny and larceny of a firearm. The consequences of a conviction are likely severe. Many of the details regarding the alleged incidents are unclear, including how police identified the men as suspects and what other items were stolen other than guns. Now, they face multiple decisions, including whether to fight the charges in court or accept a plea deal if offered. Often, defendants in North Carolina might choose the later even if they did not commit the crimes of which they are accused if they believe there is sufficient evidence to convict them.
