North Carolina woman accused of drunk driving

Most people in North Carolina would go to great lengths to protect their loved ones. In fact, any event that led to a loved one's injury would likely be devastating. Unfortunately, a young woman is facing accusations of drunk driving in addition to experiencing the associated emotional response following an accident that sent her boyfriend to the hospital.

The accident reportedly happened after 2 a.m. on a day in early October. According to reports, the 19-year-old's boyfriend was riding a motorcycle in front of a vehicle driven by the woman. When the man slowed to make a left turn, law enforcement officials claim that the woman did not brake or swerve.

As a result, the vehicle she was driving allegedly struck the rear of the motorcycle. The collision is said to have pushed the motorcycle almost 300 feet. The rider reportedly suffered serious injuries in the accident; he was reportedly bleeding from his eyes, ears and mouth and was unconscious. Police say that the woman admitted to drinking prior to the accident.

In addition to drunk driving accusations, the North Carolina woman faces several other charges, including felony serious injury by motor vehicle, driving after consuming alcohol while under 21, failure to reduce speed and driving with a revoked license. Though the cases are still pending, she was previously charged with possession of cocaine. Following a serious injury in an accident such as this, loved ones are often overcome with emotion, making it particularly difficult to make decisions -- especially those that will likely have a significant impact on the rest of a person's life. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help a defendant make necessary decisions.
