Drug charges follow neighbor complaint in North Carolina

Most everyone in North Carolina and across the country has likely experienced a circumstance in which they were annoyed with a neighbor. However, annoyance, or even suspicion of criminal behavior, is rarely sufficient to warrant police involvement. Despite this, a man now faces drug charges after police conducted a search of his home following a neighbor complaint.

The search happened on a day in February. Law enforcement officials report that they obtained a warrant for the search following the neighbor's complaint, but the content of that complaint is unclear. Both the North Carolina Department of Marine Fisheries and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted the local sheriff's office with the case.

As part of the raid, law enforcement officers claim they found several items of concern. For example, they claim to have seized prescription medications, cocaine and marijuana in the raid. Additionally, reports indicate that several guns as well as precious metals and bullion were seized.

Drug charges were filed against the man in the immediate aftermath of the raid. However, additional charges are anticipated once the investigation regarding the North Carolina man are complete, including the completion of lab reports. When facing criminal charges such as these, defendants often want to ensure that any evidence that might be used against them was obtained lawfully. Without legal training, many people are unable to recognize and adequately respond to unlawful treatment. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help examine all elements of a case and determine what actions are necessary.
